What I would do my Data Journalism assignment on would be the different cost of renting in the

Slippery Rock area. Ever since Slippery Rock was founded in 1889 its had plenty of time to set up multiple different places to rent through the University itself, for example the Grove, the Ivy ect. There are other options in the county for students to utilize that aren't through the school, which could be better options financially then the expensive Gove, Ivy, and the Heights by ways of different land lords. Land lords would be who I would get my interview from because I myself rent from someone who is not affiliated with the school. My land lord has multiple different properties she owns and has been renting them out for the past 5-10 years and has a lot of general knowledge about the business that would be useful for this project.

For this project I would just use a simple bar chart race to show the different types of renting options people, mainly college students wanting to move off of campus, have around them. This chart would be ideal because it would show the names of renters and a progressive number show of the costs over the years. The part of the graph that would move as the years progressive would be cool to see how high some renters are paying versus how low someone could pay. As a renter of an apartment myself, I would find this information really cool.
I believe this could be an interesting topic that a news paper could run because it is relevant to the Slippery Rock community. The factors that would go into the graph would be 'the renter' on the side bar, the rent cost along the bar itself, and then across the top the range of cost. This information could help out students, parents, or just in general someone who wants to rent in the area.
